[Survey] San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation

Ocean Beach News Article: [Survey] San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation

Ocean Beach MainStreet Association Members,

Please take a few minutes to take this survey which is being conducted on behalf of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation (SDREDC) and the San Diego and Imperial County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) who are committed to supporting businesses in the County.

SDREDC and SBDC would value your participation in a brief survey to better understand the needs of small businesses in San Diego and Imperial Counties. The survey is being conducted by BW Research, an independent research organization, and should take approximately 10-15 minutes of your time.

Your responses will not be published; only aggregate information will be used in the reporting of the survey results.

Take Survey

Sincerely,

OBMA Team

OBMA Annual Marketing Breakfast 2024

We hopped to it and discussed taking customer service and engagement to the next level! A huge thank you to Joon Han for talking to our membership about how to ‘Actually Win Word of Mouth’, be engaged with your customers in an authentic way and explained the Net Promoter Score in an easy way to understand.

Held at St. Peter’s by the Sea, our early morning breakfast was informational and was a terrific way to share ideas. Congratulations to Bill McKinney, Carter Moss and J. Han who each won a 3-month OBMA Website Ad for guessing the closest # of candies in the jar. Which was 111 by the way! For those who couldn’t make the Annual Marketing Breakfast, we have copies of the handouts at the OBMA office.

Minimum Wage Increase Jan. 1, 2024

Hourly Minimum Wage Will Increase to $16.85 Effective Jan. 1, 2024

Many San Diegans will soon see an increase in their pay when the City’s minimum wage goes up. Effective Jan. 1, 2024, employees who perform at least two hours of work in one or more calendar weeks of the year within the geographic boundaries of the City of San Diego will receive a minimum wage increase from $16.30 to $16.85 an hour. The change is per the City’s Earned Sick Leave and Minimum Wage Ordinance, approved in 2016.

“Increasing the minimum wage in San Diego is essential to ensure that workers can afford necessities like food, housing, and healthcare,” Mayor Todd Gloria said. “This puts more money in people’s pockets, which boosts our economy.”

Since 2019, the minimum wage in the city has gone up annually by an amount corresponding to the prior year’s increase, if any, in the cost of living as determined by the  Consumer Price Index. The ordinance applies to all industries and businesses and there are no exceptions. Tips and gratuities do not count toward the payment of minimum wage.

Updated notices for posting at the workplace are available on the City’s Minimum Wage Program webpage. Every employer must post these notices in a conspicuous place at any workplace or job site.

Employees will continue to earn sick leave, either by the accrual or “front load” method, per the ordinance. Employees may use earned sick leave for all the reasons described in the ordinance, which includes but is not limited to, time for their medical care or for the medical care of a family member. Employers may limit an employee’s use of earned sick leave to forty hours in a benefit year.

Contact the City’s Minimum Wage Program at [email protected] or (619) 615-1565 for any questions or to file a complaint.
