Someone wearing a uniform and representing themselves as the fire department walked through his coffee shop in July and spent just “seconds in the shop.,” As they left they asked Mr. Gregoso if he would not mind signing the blank form so that his supervisor knew he had been there.
Sometime later Mr. Gregoso received an invoice and a W2 form asking for his tax ID. Mr. Gregoso called and told the company he had not signed up for or authorized any service and was not going to pay. They seemed willing to drop it. I do not know if any other businesses on Third Avenue or other parts of the City have been approached. Thought you should know in case the activity is more widely spread and affecting other businesses.
