Raglan Public House and the Ocean Beach MainStreet Association put on a celebration of life for a longtime member of the community, Yvonne Cruz. About 100 people joined the fun on Thursday, April 2nd to eat, drink and buy raffle tickets - all in honor of Yvonne. Recently she had spent many hours volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House and in lieu of flowers being sent to the family, we agreed to do what we could to make a donation in her memory. With the help of over forty five local businesses donating over seventy five items to be raffled off, we'll be making a donation of almost $2,000 in her name raised just from raffle tickets. Gifts ranged from three hour surf lessons, to custom art, to a snowboard, a surfboard and a skateboard. Raglan Public House will also be donating 15% from the sales of food and alcohol from the evening.

Thanks to (Carol) Yvonne Cruz for her many years of service to the OB MainStreet Association and the Ocean Beach community. We were saddened to hear the news of her passing. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 1st.
Yvonne was a long time local business owner and made wetsuits for generations of avid water sports fans, donated her services to water based charities and also found herself making custom wetsuits for dogs and even a duck at one point!
We've enjoyed being Yvonne's neighbor since the OB MainStreet Office moved to 1868 Bacon St. in 2003. Yvonne was a long time, active board member at the time of her death. She also spent countless hours volunteering on committees, chairing the OB Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off Festival, and was even President of the association. Her service carried over into volunteering with groups like the Polinsky Children's Center and the Ronald McDonald House. Yvonne had many dear friends that she enjoyed sailing with. We know she will be missed by them all.
Yvonne's family will continue to run the wetsuit business, Surf 'n Sea, as they have been for the last two years. They can continue to be reached for repairs and custom suits at 619-222-1231.
