Spaces As Places Amendment
PLEASE ACCEPT THIS AS A NOTICE TO INFORM YOU, as a property owner, tenant or interested citizen,
that the Council of The City of San Diego, California will conduct a public hearing, as part of a scheduled
City Council meeting, on the following project:
On November 9, 2021, the City Council adopted Ordinance O-21319, the Spaces As Places amendments to the
Separately Regulated Use Regulations of the Municipal Code and LCP. The amendments permitted and added
regulations for streetaries, active sidewalks, promenades, and outdoor dining on private property under the
commercial services use category of separately regulated uses, which included requirements specific to outdoor
business operations and enhanced active transportation. The amendments also included a Coastal Development
Permit (CDP) exemption for streetaries, active sidewalks, promenades, and outdoor dining on private property.
