Newport Avenue Beach is perhaps the most popular beach in Ocean Beach for surfers and people just enjoying the sights or hanging out. While there is a parking lot available for beachgoers it is often full and parking can be somewhat problematic. This beach is particularly popular amongst photographers’ as there is a wide variety of objects to shoot. This beach also offers the only surfer’s only area around. Hundreds of surfers flock to this beach on a daily basis at their chance to catch the next “big one”.
If you’re looking for a private beach, Newport Avenue Beach is not the spot for you. This beach is located in the middle of all the action. If you’re not a beachgoer, no worries, Newport Avenue is lined with shops, restaurants and bars for your pleasure while visiting. While there is a swimming area north of the lifeguard station this beach still tends to be most popular amongst the surfers in the area. There are no volleyball posts at this beach, but there is a small grassy area for a nice picnic if you like.
