The Wine Pub Announces Valle de Guadalupe Tour on May 21
Tour highlights rich history of family-owned wineries south of the border
SAN DIEGO, May 11, 2016—Uncork the perfect way to experience eating and drinking across the border—easy, in style and with good company. On Saturday, May 21, The Wine Pub invites its San Diego friends and neighbors to experience the charm of Valle de Guadalupe’s wineries and get a taste of what makes food and wine in Baja California so special.
“Visiting Valle de Guadalupe began as a hobby for me, which quickly turned into my favorite weekend getaway, and has since become something I bring to the community as a business owner,” said Sandy Hanshaw, owner of The Wine Pub, of her frequently sold-out tours. “Now, adventure seeker’s can join us to check a visit to this region off their bucket list.”
On May 21, participants will gather at The Pub at 8:30 a.m. and take two mini buses across the border. The first scheduled stop promises a satisfying and classic brunch in the heart of Valle de Guadalupe, followed by winery hopping for exquisite tastings and a VIP experience at Vena Cava Winery and Las Nubes, each known for their unique tasting rooms and incredible views.
The excursion will end with a four-course wine and food pairing dinner at chef Drew Deckman’s restaurant, Deckmans en el Mogor—known as a very prestigious and coveted place to dine south of the border. According to Hanshaw, the farm-to-table experience is the best way to end a day in the Valle, “engaging your senses and raising a glass to great memories and new friends.”
Special guest, wine connoisseur and Baja California expert, Fernando Gaxiola, will join Hanshaw to guide the tour using his insight into the region’s rich history of winemakers and family-owned wineries. Gaxiola owns the largest importer of Baja wines, Baja Food + Wine, which promotes boutique, family-owned and artisan wineries from Valle de Guadalupe—the region that produces 90 percent of artisan Mexican wine.
Tickets for The Wine Pub Valle de Guadalupe tours are $195 per person and include transportation, border fast pass, brunch in Guadalupe Valley, all tastings and dinner at Deckman’s. Drinks during dinner and driver tips are not included. Reservations are required and available here.
Due to popularity, The Wine Pub anticipates a sold out tour. The next day trip to Baja California is scheduled for Saturday, June 26. Please click here for more information. Visit www.thewinepubsd.com to learn more about Point Loma’s best-kept secret, The Wine Pub.
