From Rooted In Place: Since 2014, we have been working with Loma Portal Elementary School to transform the barren asphalt school yard into a ecologically healthy and stimulating outdoor play and learning environment for the students, teachers and the community. Located directly in the run off path between Point Loma and the San Diego Bay, this school yard holds great ecological significance for the area. It is also one of the oldest schools in San Diego, celebrating its centennial in October 2014.
Come join us at the next work day in the Ecological School Yard and Steam Lab.

Work Day Tasks:
Shade Structure -- hanging shade sails
Clean up garden area -- weed and mulch
Rolling Planters -- rotate and water, plant new trees and plants as needed Art -- Painting signs and picnic tables
